【摘要】:ThistestmethodisusedtodeterminethefreeacidcontentofMAH-graftedwaxes.ThepotentialhydrolysisoftheanhydridefunctionalityofthiswaxinstoragemakesthemunsuitablefordeterminingfreeacidcontentbyTestMethodD1386.Freeacidcontentisasignificantqualitycontroltest,andisadeterminantoftheutilityofthewax.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheacidnumberofmaleicanhydride(MAH)graftedwaxes.Thenumberisobtainedbydirecttitrationofthematerialandindicatestheamountoffreeacidpresent.1.2ThistestmethodisapplicabletoMAH-graftedwaxesbecauseitusesaspecialsamplepreparationstep(7.1)thatisnotrequiredforotherwaxes.Thespecialsamplepreparationreversesthehydrolysisofacidanhydridethatcanoccurduringstorageofthewax.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
