【摘要】:Theresultsofthistestmethodgiveaconservativeestimateoftheperformanceofnuclear-gradeactivatedcarbonusedinallnuclearpowerplantHVACsystemsfortheremovalofradioiodine.1.1Thistestmethodisaverystringentprocedureforestablishingthecapabilityofnewandusedactivatedcarbontoremoveradio-labeledmethyliodidefromairandgasstreams.Thesingletestmethoddescribedisforapplicationtobothnewandusedcarbons,andshouldgivetestresultscomparabletothoseobtainedfromsimilartestsrequiredandperformedthroughouttheworld.Theconditionsemployedwereselectedtoapproximateoperatingoraccidentconditionsofanuclearreactorwhichwouldseverelyreducetheperformanceofactivatedcarbons.Increasingthetemperatureatwhichthistestisperformedgenerallyincreasestheremovalefficiencyofthecarbonbyincreasingtherateofchemicalandphysicalabsorptionandisotopicexchange,thatis,increasingthekineticsoftheradioiodineremovalmechanisms.Decreasingtherelativehumidityofthetestgenerallyincreasestheefficiencyofmethyliodideremovalbyactivatedcarbon.Thewatervaporcompeteswiththemethyliodideforadsorptionsitesonthecarbon,andastheamountofwatervapordecreaseswithlowerspecifiedrelativehumidities,theeasieritisforthemethyliodidetobeadsorbed.Therefore,thistestmethodisaverystringenttestofnuclear-gradeactivatedcarbonbecauseofthelowtemperatureandhighrelativehumidityspecified.Thistestmethodisrecommendedforthequalificationofnewcarbonsandthequantificationofthedegradationofusedcarbons.1.1.1GuidancefortestingnewandusedcarbonsusingconditionsdifferentfromthistestmethodisofferedinAnnexA1.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
